Attention Jains of Central Florida! As Jain Society of Central Florida quickly approaches the grand Pratistha of its new temple on September 12th - 16th, the souvenir committee would like your involvement. As a way to inspire excitement and develop a deeper understanding of the Pratistha ceremony and the significance of the new temple, an art/essay competition is being held for all ages. There will be four categories and everyone is encouraged to take part. If you don’t know a lot about the Pratistha or temple, this is perfect opportunity to learn. There are plenty of resources, both online and within the Jain Sangh, to help you partake in this exciting competition, The winners of each category will be published in the Souvenir book that will be distributed during the Pratistha.

The age groups for the competition are as follows:

Ages 0-5: An art project (drawing, painting, etc.) depicting a Jain temple or holy symbol.

Ages 6-12: A one-page essay discussing what you do at the temple and the significance different rituals (poojas, prayers) you may perform.

Ages 13-25: A one-page essay discussing why the temple is important to you. What does having a temple offer you? What aspects of the temple are most important to you?

Ages 26+ (Adults): A one-page essay discussing the significance of Pratistha Why do we have a Pratistha celebration? This essay can be written in English, Guajarati, or Hindi.

Again, everyone is highly encouraged to participate. Parents, please guide and encourage your children. Childrens, tell your parents to compete as well.

Theme and Logo Competition
This is an excellent opportunity for you to help make your mark on the event! The selected logo and theme will be included in all print and electronic media related to the event.

The competition is open to all ages. You may submit any number of theme and (or) logo ideas. Please email your submissions to souvenirs@jsocf.org. If you hand draw a logo, please scan the image and email it.

The last day to provide your Theme/Logo is July 15th 2013.
