JSOCF History

Early Days of JSOCF

JSOCF is a vibrant Jain community which was found before 1990. Initially there were a few families that used to meet at each other’s home and did bhakti together. As the sangh grew and homes could not accommodate all who gathered. With the generous support of Shri Bhavik Singh, the sangh started meeting at his place for aaradhana.

First Sikharbandhi Derasar in Orlando

Jain Society of Central Florida (JSOCF) built the first Shikharbandhi Jain Derasar, Anila Vijai Poonai Tirth in Central Florida in the city of Altamonte Springs. Located just 15 miles north of downtown Orlando.

Pratistha in 2013

In 2001, JSOCF purchased an old house and converted into a small temple without Shikhar. Society did its first pratistha in August 2004. The dream of Shikharbandhi Derasar came true for Jains of Central Florida when JSOCF hosted the Pratistha Ceremony for five days from 12th September 2013 to 16th September 2013. More than 750 Jain Shravaks/Shravikas attended the Pratistha celebrations.

JSOCF is continuing the work of building an Institute of Jainology which will be a media center along with all scriptures and books related to the Jain religion. Once this center is built, this would be a place to go to learn everything about Jainism.
